How to Bulk Upload Vendors?

Whether you're transitioning from another system or simply want to update your vendor database in bulk, the "Bulk Upload" feature helps you do it seamlessly.

To upload Vendors in bulk, go to Purchases > Vendors and Suppliers > Add Vendor Dropdown > Upload Vendors:

You will see the following form open up:

To ensure you are following the correct format, first download the sample CSV file. It will look something like this:

Just remove the sample data, and add the vendor data you want to upload under the respective columns.

Things to take care of:

1) Phone number format

Phone numbers are not mandatory to add, but if you are adding a phone number that starts with a plus sign, add an apostrophe at the beginning to avoid any errors.

2) Country Code

Please use the country code only. For example, IN for India. (A detailed list of country codes is given at the end of this article.)

3) Currency

In case you are adding the opening balance as well, add the respective currency code depending on the vendor’s country. 

For example, INR for Indian Rupees (a detailed list of country codes is given at the end of this article)

4) File format

Only CSV files are supported for bulk upload.

Uploading CSV

Once you have added all the data in the CSV, click "Upload File":

In case you made an error, the system will give you an error report.

Download the error report to see what errors are in your CSV file. Re-upload the file after rectifying the errors.

If your CSV file does not have any errors, you will see the following modal:

That's it! Your bulk upload is done. Do keep in mind that the vendors you upload will take several minutes to reflect in the system. 

So, unless you receive an error message while uploading, do not re-upload the CSV file again.

After a few minutes, you will be able to view the uploaded vendors in your dashboard. You will also receive a confirmation email once this process is complete.
