How to mark ledger accounts as inactive and restore them?

While you can not remove or delete a ledger account you no longer need, you can mark it as "Inactive".

This is useful for maintaining clean books of accounts and archiving one-time accounts that may no longer be used.

Important Notes:

You will not be able to use the inactive accounts for manual voucher entries and linking to payment accounts or other client/vendor accounts.

Any automated voucher entries created using invoices or other documents will still continue, and the ledger will be marked as "Active" in these cases.

The inactive accounts will no longer appear in the trial balance and other financial reports in the future, ensuring a clean Books of Accounts.

To mark an Account as inactive, go to the Account from your Chart of Accounts dashboard > click "More," > select "Mark as Inactive.":

You will see a confirmation pop-up:

Read it carefully and click "Yes, Continue," and you are done!

Restoring an Inactive Account

All your Inactive Accounts will be visible on your Chart of Accounts dashboard under the "Inactive Accounts" tab.

To restore an Account, go to the Account > click "More" > select "Restore":

That's it! Your restored account will once again be available for all use cases, just like an Active Account.
